Volodya Perhoon was born on March 18, 1960, in Ukraine. He received early artistic training at the Uzhgorod Technical School for Artists, studying design from 1976 to 1980. After completing his mandatory military service between 1980 and 1982, he worked as a design artist for a textile and fabric company. During this period, he also studied under U. Tupitea, whose mentorship prepared him for admission to the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts at the Repin Institute in St. Petersburg.
Perhoon was accepted into the monumental painting studio of the renowned artist A. A. Mylnikov, one of the leading figures of the Leningrad/St. Petersburg school. He completed his master’s degree in monumental painting at the Repin Institute in May 1994. His diploma work, a 20-foot stained-glass window illustrating the life of Peter the Great, demonstrates the scale, craftsmanship, and narrative precision characteristic of his monumental style.
Perhoon has exhibited widely throughout Russia and Germany, contributing to large-scale public and private projects. His work reflects the disciplined academic training of the Repin Institute, combined with expressive, historically rooted themes often associated with monumental and architectural art.
