Gennady Ulybin

Gennady Ulybin (also spelled Guennadiy Ulibin) was born in Ukraine in 1969. He received formal artistic training beginning in 1985, completing both his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees through the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture in St. Petersburg, one of the most prestigious art academies in Russia. While at the Repin Institute, he studied under the noted professor and Soviet master Y. M. Neprintsev, whose influence shaped Ulybin’s commitment to rigorous academic draftsmanship and classical technique.

Ulybin’s work spans painting and drawing, often reflecting the traditions of Russian academic realism with sensitive handling of light, expressive composition, and refined technical skill. His art is held in private collections across Russia, Germany, Spain, and the United States. Since the early 2000s he has lived and worked in Seville, Spain, remaining active within both Russian and European artistic communities.

Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Ulybin participated in numerous exhibitions across Russia and Spain, including student and academic exhibitions at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, major salons in Moscow, and a long series of international group shows in Munich, Seville, Cádiz, Osuna, Esija, and Puerto de Santa María. In 1997 he received an exhibition award honoring the memory of his teacher, Y. M. Neprintsev, at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts.

Recognized for his Russian Impressionist tendencies and classical training, Ulybin continues to develop his practice in Spain while maintaining representation in exhibitions throughout Europe and abroad.aly, as well as museums in Feodosia and Yoshkar-Ola.
