Arsen Kurbanov

Russia • Born 1969

Arsen Kurbanov is a contemporary Russian painter celebrated for his evocative figurative works that blend realism with poetic mysticism. Born in Makhachkala, Dagestan, in 1969, he studied at the prestigious Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute, where he trained under some of Russia’s leading realist painters.

His work fuses classical realism with romantic symbolism, often portraying contemplative women in timeless, dreamlike spaces. With soft lighting and earthy tones, his paintings blur the boundary between the real and the ethereal, while drawing inspiration from both his Dagestani heritage and Russian artistic traditions.

Kurbanov has exhibited widely across Russia and Europe, with works held in both state and private collections. He continues to live and work in Russia, where his paintings remain highly sought after by international collectors.
